Congress win in Huzurnagar will restore democracy: N Uttam Kumar Reddy

HYDERABAD: Victory of the Congress candidate in Huzurnagar by-elections will change the course of politics in the state, Telangana Congress president and Nalgonda MP N Uttam Kumar Reddy has said.

Addressing a press conference along with Telangana Jana Samithi president M Kodandaram, Congress MLC T Jeevan Reddy, former minister Damodar Reddy, and other leaders at Huzurnagar on Thursday, Uttam said the victory of Congress candidate N Padmavathi Reddy was essential not only for the people of the constituency, but for the entire state.

“People’s verdict in Congress’ favour will send a strong message to CM KCR that his arrogance and dictatorial style of functioning is no longer accepted. Also, the defeat of TRS candidate Saidi Reddy will compel the ruling party to fulfil all the electoral promises made by KCR. The Congress victory will make KCR-led TRS realise that it would face similar defeat in all other constituencies. The bypoll results will play a major role in restoration of democracy and pressurise the government to act in a responsible and accountable manner,” Uttam said.

Stating that it would be unfortunate for the people if TRS wins the bypolls, he warned that TRS leaders would turn Huzurnagar constituency into a mafia den if they win.

TJS chief Kodandaram said if TRS wins the bypoll, KCR would claim it as people’s endorsement of TRS rule and justify all wrong decisions taken by him such as his “adamant stand against striking RTC employees”.
