Constable held while accepting Rs 25,000 bribe

PUNE: The state anti-corruption bureau (ACB) Pune on Thursday arrested a constable from the Pune rural police while accepting a bribe of Rs25,000.

The constable Rahul Dattatreya Badhe (30) had allegedly sought the bribe to help a suspect arrested in a dacoity case seek bail.

Suhas Nadgauda, assistant commissioner of police, ACB, Pune, said that the complainant’s brother and others have been named in cases of dacoity registered with the Indapur police.

“To help get bail for the complainant’s brother, Badhe had demanded Rs25,000 from the complainant,” Nadgauda said.

He added that, after receiving the complaint application, the ACB confirmed the demand on Wednesday. “We laid a trap near a school in Indapur and arrested Badhe while accepting the money,” Nadgauda said. A case has been registered against Badhe with the Indapur police.
