Cops recover Rs 24 lakh stolen from Baran bank counter

KOTA: Cracking the eight-day old burglary case of Rs 31.50 lakh from cash counter of ICICI branch at Char Murti Circle last week, Baran police recovered Rs 24 lakh from Pachor village in Rajgarh district of Madhya Pradesh .


Disclosing the details, additional superintendent of police (ASP), Baran, Vijay Swarnkar told reporters on Wednesday that a police team on Monday recovered Rs 24 lakh, a major part of the Rs 31.50 lakh in a bag that was stolen from a bank branch in Baran city last week.

The team came across some leads that indicated that the accused were to distribute the cash among themselves in Pachor village of Rajgarh district in Madhya Pradesh, he said.

The police team, following verification of leads, carried out a raid at the location, but the accused fled from the spot leaving the bag containing cash, he said. The recovered bag, cash and deposit slips, on verification, were found to be belonging to grocery trader Mahavir Goyal.

Efforts are under way to nab the accused involved in the burglary, he added.

On Monday last week, Goyal put the bag containing cash on the counter and moved away for a few seconds to the next counter to deposit cheque slip and when he came back to the cash counter, some unidentified miscreants had made away with the bag.
