Cops taking bribe in gambling video in Etawah jail viral

Kanpur: In another shocker, a video showing inmates gambling inside Etawah district jail went viral on social media on Thursday. In the video policemen could be seen taking bribe from prisoners in lieu of allowing illegal activities in the jail. Besides, an illegal canteen being run in the jail was also shown. The video was recorded on a mobile which inmates are not allowed to have inside the jail premises.

Jail superintendent Raj Kishore Singh said that the video seems to be recorded in past and suspected some conspiracy. “No such activity is going in the jail premises at present. Video seems to have been recorded in past which has been made viral with some malafide intention to tarnish the image of jail administration,” said jail superintendent.

The video comes after footages of Naini, Raebareli and Sultanpur jails had caused flutter a few days ago. In recent past, four more videos had gone viral in which Unnao jail inmates were seen brandishing firearms, mobile phones and consuming liquor.

District authorities, however said, a probe has been ordered and stringent action will be taken against the culprits. “We have come across the viral video and launched a probe in this regard. Strict action will be initiated against the culprits,”said district magistrate Etawah Jitendra Bahadur Singh.
