Corrie's Geoff mortified as he's caught abusing Sally by horrified grandaughter Faye

Coronation Street villain Geoff Metcalfe had the smirk wiped off his face on Friday's instalment of the soap.

He had ambushed Sally Metcalfe in her own home, gloating after he learnt that his son Tim had called off their wedding because he found out Sally had returned Yasmeen's money for the wedding to Alya.

Sally was already heartbroken and things went from bad to worse when she arrived home to see Geoff had let himself in.

But while he viciously abused Sally with his cruel words, he had no idea someone else was listening, Geoff's grandaughter Faye Windass.

Finally Geoff's mask slipped and he was clearly rattled that she had seen his true colours.

"Now now, I've only come to offer commiserations vis a vis the cancelled nuptials," Geoff gloated.

"His face, I don't know it was 48% sadness, 52% relief, a bit like the Brexit result."

Sally remarked: "Oh Geoff, you're a walking talking wrecking ball."

Geoff replied: "The truth is Sal, you've hitched your wagon to the wrong horse, you've bought into the lies of that bleating, whining fantasist I married.

"You even buy her heart attack, oh we'll have a shock when we open her up and discover her swinging brick.

"You've been duped my dear."

Sally said desperately: "Tim doesn't deserve this, we were happy."

"I know, that's why I've got my sad face on," Geoff replied sarcastically.

"But I told him the only way to get over a woman is to get under a new one, and that perked him up a bit.

Sally furiously demanded to know where Elaine was after she had gone missing, but Geoff refused to answer.

"Why are you shocked that blood is thicker than water? That dads and lads have an unbreakable bond," he asked her.

"My son will always have my back, I walk on water whereas you grow wrinklier and more boring by the day."

Suddenly emerging from upstairs came a shocked looking Faye, who said: "Grandad, that's horrible."

Jumping up in shock, Geoff mumbled: "Yeah I'm sorry love, you're right, I went a bit far didn't I."

"You were dead nasty," replied Faye, looking concerned.

Geoff apologised and said the way Faye was looking at him was a "wake up call".

But he insisted to Faye that Sally had been abusing him for months and was trying to destroy his relationship with his son.

Faye looked unconvinced as she saw him out, and viewers were delighted she had seen Geoff's true colours.

One tweeted: "Faye has just copped Geoff being horrible to Sally. Come on Faye you need to see through him now #Corrie ".

" #corrie glad Faye arrived and cut short grotesque Geoff's smugness!!! Less smug grotesque Geoff = happier viewer" added another.

"Now it appears to be Detective Faye on the case in the next few weeks as Geoff is busted by Faye ?" pondered another.

"YES! Faye seeing the real Geoff! #Corrie " celebrated another.
