Councillors abducted by Congress in Alwar, alleges BJP

Jaipur/Alwar: As the day nears to the election of mayor and chairperson of municipalities on November 26, the competition between the Congress and the BJP to form boards raised the temperature. Though the BJP got absolute majority in only six municipal bodies and emerged as the largest party in nine, the party has decided to field candidate for chairperson in all the 49 local bodies which went to the polls on November 16.

This has queered the pitch as both the political formations are on the lookout for councillors who are open to support them. Since there is no anti-defection law, newly elected councillors could switch sides at will. In a major development in Alwar, Congress leaders barged into a hotel where independent councillors were lodged by the BJP and reportedly took three of them into their camp. The BJP alleged that the operation was carried out with the help of police. But Congress sources claimed that the councillors left the BJP camp voluntarily. But the truth will be known only the councillors come clean on the issue. But there is no information of the place where they have been taken.

BJP MLA from Alwar Sanjay Sharma accused the Congress party's district president and Congress minister Tikaram Julie of forcible entry resort and indulging in vandalism. Sharma complained to Alwar police and the Director General of Police in this regard. He demanded action against the Congress leaders. Minister Tikaram Julie meanwhile has described these allegations as baseless. Sanjay Sharma said the independent councillors were lodged at a resort in Sariska. On Thursday morning minister Tikaram Julie and Congress district president reached the resort with some criminals and tried to enter the resort. when the watchman did not open the gates, they jumped over the wall and entered the resort. He alleged all this happened in the presence of police. As soon as they entered, they began beating up the councillors. The CCTV cameras of the resort were ransacked and took three councillors Dharmapal Singh Tawar, Murti Devi and Dhara Singh with them. He said there were 10 councillors lodged at the resort when the incident took place. He said other councillors saved themselves putting up a fight with the intruders.

Minister Julie denied that he was part of the trespassers at the resort. If there is a complaint then investigation will be conducted.
