Couple held for duping rice miller of Rs 74 lakh in Karnal

KARNAL: Police have arrested a man and his wife for allegedly duping a rice miller of Rs 74 lakh. A sum of Rs 63.53 lakh has been recovered from them.

The accused have been identified as Sanjeev Kumar and his wife Renu Sharma of Cheeka village in Kaithal district .

Karnal SP Surendar Singh Bhoria said Sanjeev worked at Hans rice mill as an accountant for a year before his dismissal.

On leaving the firm, he stole some cheques and misused them later using fake signature, cheating the mill owner of Rs 74 lakh.

The mill owner had approached the police on September 18 and the accused were arrested on November 2.
