Couple held for scuffle at hospital in Shalimar Bagh

NEW DELHI: A couple was arrested after they got involved in a scuffle with the staff at Fortis hospital in Shalimar Bagh. Videos of the incident were captured on phones.


Senior police officers said that the incident happened on March 7 when a woman, later identified as Chhavi Chauhan, had come to the hospital with her husband Pradeep Chauhan with an injury to her hand.

The hospital staff told cops that the couple got involved in an altercation with them and tore their documents. The couple also beat up the staff and even misbehaved with the cops who tried to restrain them. The video showed Pradeep attacking the hospital staff while verbally abusing them as well.

Later, the management submitted a formal complaint with the cops following which the couple was booked. In its statement, Fortis hospital said that the couple was requested by the hospital staff to maintain decorum, but they became more aggressive and started hurling abuses and also physically assaulted the hospital staff.

“The hospital management immediately called the police to intervene. The police team tried to pacify and calm the group down, however, it became a futile effort when the couple started misbehaving with the police team as well.”
