Covid-19: 29 more +ve in Mizoram, tally up to 267

AIZAWL: Mizoram health minister Dr R. Lalthangliana said on Thursday that no one returning from other parts of the country would be allowed to enter the state or travel inside the state on a two-wheeled vehicle, even as 29 people tested positive for the virus.


Lalthangliana on Wednesday visited a number of quarantine centres in Aizawl city including Rajiv Awas Yojana building at Falkland locality where the BSF personnel were quarantined.

He implored the BSF officials to strictly adhere to the lockdown guidelines and SOP on quarantine.

Two persons, who returned from other states and were heading for southernmost Lawngtlai district, reportedly stopped at Thenzawl town in central Serchhip district where they had tea and snacks, causing alarm after they were tested Covid-19 positive later.

They also stopped at Lunglei town to repair a flat tyre. The government has undertaken contact tracing and collected over 20 swab samples for tests at the Zoram Medical College laboratory.

Meanwhile, Wednesday witnessed a surge in a number of Covid-19 infected persons with 29 people testing positive. While 13 of them are Assam Rifles jawans, 5 are BSF personnel, one is an NDRF personnel and 10 are civilians.

One Covid-19 patient was discharged from Zoram Medical College on Thursday, taking the total number of people cured to 159. There are 108 active cases and the total number of Covid-19 infected people is 267. No one has died in the state due to Covid-19 till date.
