Covid-19 fears claim lives of two couples in Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh

Hyderabad: In two separate tragic incidents, two couples ended lives by suicide in Andhra Pradesh and Hyderabad.

In one incident in Dharmavaram town in Anantapur district of Andhra Pradesh, the young couple (aged 39 and 36 years) recovered from the infection after treatment and were under home isolation.

Earlier on July 24, the husband's mother succumbed to the infection. His father, who lives on the second floor, is also positive and in home isolation. They jumped from the third floor and died instantly around 3 am.

Dharmavaram police inspector K Karunakar said the reason for their suicide was not yet known. Police said the couple had financial worries. They are survived by 12-year old son.

In Hyderabad, a 63-year old man and his 60-years old wife consumed pesticide by mixing in cool drink on Saturday, fearing that they were infected with Coronavirus. They both had cold, cough and fever for the last few days.

Panjagutta police said the couple was worried that the other members in the family would contract the infection.

A suicide note said to be written by the woman mentioned that health issues forced them to take the extreme decision. The police registered a case of death under suspicious circumstances.
