Covid patients get comic treat from Kollywood comedians

THANJAVUR: The Thanjavur district administration on Tuesday conducted a stand-up a comedy programme for Covid-19 patients . Kollywood comedians Robo Shankar and Dindigul Saravanan entertained the patients with their comic show.

Around 200 Covid-19 patients have been quarantined in isolation wards at Annai Engineering College in Kumbakonam and Slum Clearance Board buildings in Pattukottai.



Patients were made to sit in an open space, away from the entertainers.

Robo Shankar and Dindigul Saravanan spoke to the inmates and created awareness about the virus. The duo gave them tips to spend days in the wards without stress. They also spoke about things they should do after discharge. And all these tips were given in a humorous way evoking applauds from the patient-audience.

Shankar explained the importance of maintaining social distancing way.
Speaking to the reporters after the programme in Pattukottai, Shankar said he and Saravanan had decided to meet Covid-19 positive patients in the isolation wards and to perform stand-up comedy to make them happy.

“We approached all the district collectors expressing our willingness to perform before patients. We got the first call from Thanjavur district collector,” he said.

Earlier, revenue officials had donated two sets of carom and chess boards to both the corona treatment centres in Kumbakonam and Pattukottai.
