Dalit man thrashed mercilessly by 'upper caste' men in UP's Barabanki

Barabanki: A Dalit man was allegedly beaten up by a group of four men on Thursday, July 18 in UP's Barabanki. After thrashing the victim, the accused allegedly attempted to burn him alive. An FIR against the four accused was filed at Deva police station.

Two of the accused were identified as Umesh Kumar Yadav and Shravan Kumar Yadav, the other two have not been identified yet.

None of the accused has been arrested. 

The FIR of the incident read, "The victim was going to bring his wife from her house when four upper-caste men stopped and inquired about his caste. When they came to know that he is a Dalit, they first thrashed him and later tried to burn him alive with petrol."

The victim's sister said, "My brother was thrashed without any fault. The guilty should be arrested as soon as possible. He was going to bring back his wife."

Ashutosh Dubey, Chief Medical Superintendent, Civil Hospital Lucknow said, "The victim was admitted in the hospital with 30 per cent burn injuries. He is in critical condition right now. We are doing our best to give him the best treatment possible and save his life." Further probe is underway.

Man beaten to death for accidentally hitting a woman with bike in Rajasthan's Alwar

On July 18, a 28-year-old man was allegedly lynched to death in Rajasthan's Alwar district after he accidentally hit an elderly lady with his bike. After the alleged accident, locals formed a group and started beating the accused. 

Identified as Harish Jatav, the Dalit man was passing from Jhirana village when he lost control of his two-wheeler and hit an elderly lady. Followed by this, locals surrounded Jatav and started beating him up. 

The man was admitted to a local clinic in Alwar from where he was referred to the Safdarjung Hospital in the national capital. Jatav succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment at the Safdarjung Hospital. Jatav's father said, "I want absolute justice." An eyewitness said that the accused managed to escape the spot after the incident and informed the police. He added that the accused also went to the police station to lodge a complaint in relation to the incident.

Madurai man forced to eat human faeces 

A Dalit man was allegedly forced to eat human faeces and was urinated upon in Thiruvanduthurai in May this year. The man said that he was "humiliated and wanted to commit suicide". Identified as Muthu, Rajkumar and Rajesh, the accused allegedly attacked the victim because he had taken a stand for the Dalit community around three years ago.
