Dehradun: Kindergarten student gets injured after falling from school bus window, case registered against principal

DEHRADUN: A case of negligence has been registered against the principal and staff of a city-based school after a three-and-a-half-year-old kindergarten student allegedly fell from the school bus window while returning after school.

Reportedly, the incident, which took place at Manduwala in Premnagar area on May 8, came to light when father of the child SK Gupta made a call to the school to know about his child when he did not reach home on time.

In his complaint with police, Gupta stated that he was misinformed by the school management initially as he was told that his son is coming in another school bus as teh first bus developed some snag. However, when the child did not reach home even then, Gupta reached the school to know his child’s whereabouts. “When he questioned one of the staff members, he was told that his son is in hospital as he fell from the window of the moving bus,” said a police officer. According to Gupta, he was continuously misled by the school management about the status of his child, who was lying in the hospital in an unconscious state.

After regaining senses, the child narrated the incident to his father and said that he fell from the school bus window. On May 11 evening, Gupta filed a complaint against the school principal and staff members.

An FIR has been filed against the principal and staff of the school under section 279 (rash driving), 337 (causing hurt by act endangering life or personal safety of others) and section 75 of Juvenile Justice Act.
