Delay in establishing textile park near Perambalur: Villagers stage protest
TRICHY: Local people staged a protest on Monday condemning the delay in establishing a proposed textile park in Perambalur district of Tamil Nadu .
In 2013, the Tamil Nadu government announced that a textile park would be established in Perambalur district. In 2016, around 99 acres of poromboke land in Padalur and Irur panchayats on the Trichy-Chennai National Highway were alienated for the textile park.
But the project remains a non-starter.
Locals, who hope employment generation through the proposed textile park, staged a protest at Padalur condemning the inordinate delay on the part of the Perambalur district administration in executing the textile park.
The protest was called off after police held talks with the local people and assured them that their demands would be taken to the notice of district administration.
