Delhi HC asks centre to appoint Ali as SI, 'honourably' acquitted from a case

The Delhi High Court has quashed the Centre’s decision rejecting the appointment of a man as sub-inspector in the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), saying he was “honourably” acquitted from a criminal case.

A Bench of Justices S. Muralidhar and Sanjeev Narula directed the Centre to appoint Liyakat Ali as SI in the CISF, by giving him seniority from the same year in which his batch-mates who qualified in the Staff Selection Commission exam 2015 were appointed.

The High Court’s decision came on a plea of Mr. Ali challenging the order cancelling the provisional offer of appointment made to him. Mr. Ali had applied for the post in the CISF and passed the SSC examination in 2015. He was issued a letter provisionally appointing him as SI Executive in the CISF subject to character and antecedent verification.

He submitted all relevant documents, including the character certificate. He also submitted a copy of a January 2015 judgment of a Firozpur court, whereby he was acquitted in an assault case.
