Delhi man stabbed to death over affair advice

NEW DELHI: A petty argument over marrying against the wishes of the family resulted in a murder at Najafgarh . A man stabbed his brother-in-law who had tried to advise him against living with a married woman.

The affair had resulted in a conflict in the neighbourhood, and the couple had shifted to Bahadurgarh.

However, she left her husband’s house and returned to her lover’s place on November 17. On her return, a fight ensued between the families, and the accused stabbed the 27-year-old man. He died a day later.

The victim has been identified as Riyaz while the accused as 19-year-old Naushad. Police officials said that Riyaz had slapped his brother-in law after he asked him to stay away from the woman. Subsequently, Naushad stabbed him multiple times on his chest.

Before dying, Riyaz told police that Naushad was in an illicit relationship with a married girl, who was living nearby. “Everyone in the family was against it. When I objected to his behaviour and his illicit relationship with the married girl, he became aggressive and stabbed me on his chest with a knife and ran away,” Riyaz told the police. A case of murder was registered and Naushad arrested.

During interrogation, Naushad told the cops that he wanted to marry the girl, but both the family members were against their relationship.
