Dentist killed in his car in Saharsa

PATNA: An unidentified criminal gunned down a dentist in Saharsa around 4.30pm on Tuesday. Police said Kishor Kumar Bhaskar (32) was driving his car on way to his in-laws’ house in Purnia when a man travelling with him in the rear seat fired at close range, leading to his instant death.

Saharsa SP Rakesh Kumar said Kishor’s body was found in his car parked on the roadside near Gang Jala Chowk on the outskirts of the district headquarters town.

The assailant was known to the dentist as he was shot from behind while driving the car, the SP said. He, however, didn’t rule out the involvement of more people in the incident.

The SP said Kishor owned a private clinic in Saharsa town. The family members told the police that he had left home for Purnia. “But the car was traced on another route, making the case more complex for the investigators,” he said.

The SP said a forensic team has been requisitioned from Patna to collect evidence from the car. “The team is likely to reach Saharsa on Wednesday,” he added.

The reason behind the murder is yet to be ascertained. An investigating officer on the condition of anonymity said bloodstains were found on the driving seat of the car. Evidence of another occupant travelling in the vehicle was also found in the car.
