District admin launches “Swachhta hi Seva” campaign at Udhampur

District Development Commissioner, Dr. Piyush Singla, today launched ‘Swachhta hi Seva’ campaign in Udhampur district.In this regard, the DDC chaired a meeting of district officers and informed that the campaign will culminate on September 30th 2019. He said that a series of activities, like symposium/debate, painting, special sensitization drives, and strict enforcement of ban on plastic would be organized in all the educational institutions in urban and rural pockets of the district.

DDC asked the Block Development Officers of all 17 blocks of the district, who have been appointed as the nodal officer for the campaign, to put in their best for effective implementation of the campaign. The main focus of this campaign is ‘Say no to plastic’ and save the environment from hazardous effect of plastics, he added.The DDC added that intensive awareness programmes will be conducted across the district during the campaign and environment friendly jute bags will be distributed among the common masses.DDC informed that ward wise awareness programmes in coordination with concerned councilors will be organized in which different district officers will also participate.He asked the Chief Executive Officer Municipality to submit ward wise activity plan for this campaign.
DDC said that the key objective of the campaign is to mobilize people and reinforce the public movement for sanitation and cleanliness. He appealed the people in general and media in particular to come forward for effective implementation of this campaign. Among others, Additional District Development Commissioner, Ashok Kumar, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Dr. Gurvinderjeet Singh, Chief Planning Officer, Rajeev Bhushan, Assistant Commissioner Development, Neelam Khajuria, President Municipal Council Udhampur, Dr.
Yogeshwar Gupta, Collector Northern Railway, Anirudh Rai, District Information Officer, Er. Sajad Bashir Somberia, HQA, Arti Bhardwaj, CAO, Jahangir Shafi, CEO, Daljeet Singh, CEO MC, Santosh Kotwal and other district heads of various departments were present in the meeting.
