Doctor arrested for sexual harassment of Salem schoolteacher

SALEM: A retired government doctor has been arrested for sexually harassing a private school teacher in Salem city.

The accused has been identified as Tamil Selvan, 62, of Nethimedu area in the city.

K Rose (name changed), 32, is working in a private school in city. She approached Dr Tamil Selvan on Friday evening for a medical check-up as she was suffering from stomach pain.

During medical examination, Rose informed the doctor that she had been suffering from a chest pain three months ago.

While examining her, the accused sexually harassed Rose following which she rushed to her home.

On Saturday morning, the doctor called Rose over phone and spoke to her in an obscene way.

Rose lodged a compliant with the Annadhanapatty police. The police registered a case and questioned Tamil Selvan.

“During inquiry, the accused confessed to the crime,” a police officer police said.

He was arrested on Saturday evening and remanded in judicial custody.
