'Drishyam 2' will be an interesting movie: Mohanlal

On Mohanlal’s 60th birthday, filmmaker Jeethu Joseph announced ‘Drishyam 2’, a sequel to the 2013 hit. The announcement came as a surprise to the audience and Mohanlal, who will be reprising Georgekutty, is excited about the upcoming project. Speaking about the project in a recent interview to a news channel, Mohanlal said that the team always wanted to do a sequel to the 2013 movie, and they felt that this is the best time to make the project.

Mohanlal also said that he hopes that ‘Drishyam 2’ would bring the audience back to the theatres. The actor further added that the 2013 movie has had a huge impact amongst the audience and the sequel will be answering many questions the audience had after the first film.

Mohanlal assured that he has read the script and he found it gripping and interesting. The actor also added that the director Jeethu Joseph has constructed the upcoming movie in a very interesting pattern. “‘Drishyam 2’ will be an interesting movie," the actor said emphasizing that the curiosity about what happened after the end will bring the audience back to theatres.

Meanwhile, Mohanlal and Jeethu Joseph’s movie ‘Ram’s’ production was underway and that’s when the coronavirus pandemic broke out. As the nation is under lockdown and there are many restrictions and guidelines about filming, Jeethu Joseph has decided to cease the shoot of ‘Ram’ for a while. Also, ‘Ram’ has non-Keralite stars like Trisha Krishna and Adil Hussain and the team has schedules abroad India, and hence the shoot will restart only after the crisis is completely over.

Jeethu will begin filming for ‘Drishyam 2’, once the lockdown is lifted. The shoot will be carried out in a controlled environment following the guidelines of the government. Antony Perumbavoor of Aashirvad Cinemas is backing the project.
