Driving without licence? Indore traffic cops will help you get one

Indore: Driving without licence will soon get you a recommendation slip from traffic police along with a booked slot at regional transport office.

In a unique initiative, traffic police now plan to set up a system through which they will be able to recommend motorists without a driving licence to obtain one from RTO without any hustle.



ASP (traffic) Mahendra Kumar Jain said that they are in talks with RTO to set up an arrangement in which learning licence slots would be booked for people who are caught driving a vehicle without the document.

“Other records of such violators will be collected and shared with RTO for booking a slot and violator would be recommended to reach RTO office as per given time for the test,” said Jain.

“Once applied, the violator will be asked to go to RTO, complete formalities and sit for the test,” he said, adding that they hope that this would create a sense of responsibility among such people.

ASP Jain also said that they are also planning to hold camps in schools and colleges with transport department to provide students an option to apply for a driving licence.

“The idea behind this plan is to encourage people including youngster obtain a licence,” he added.

On an average, around 10-20 people are caught driving a vehicle without licence. And they are allowed to leave after paying the fine.

Traffic police officials also pointed that most of these violators are found to be below the age of 25 years.
