Drones to check illegal construction in Nainital

NAINITAL: In a one-of-its-kind initiative, the district administration is now planning to deploy drones to check illegal construction in the tourist town.

According to sources, four drones would be deployed on a pilot basis to check illegal construction and unregulated development in the town.

District magistrate Savin Bansal said, “We are now working on automating monitoring of lake levels, drains and other activities such as illegal construction to develop the town into a model hill station.” It has also been decided to install all-weather cameras in drains to monitor them and prevent disposal of garbage.

The decision was taken at a meeting with district officials on Sunday.
