Drug smuggling bid foiled in Ganganagar

JAISALMER: Continuous efforts are being made to smuggle heroin from across the Pakistan border into Rajasthan. A week ago, 20kg heroin was pushed into the Indian side from the Anupgarh area in Ganganagar through pipes laid from the Pakistan side and now, another serious effort of pushing a consignment of heroin from Ganganagar’s Karanpur sector was foiled by BSF and police personnel.

Four persons, including three from Punjab and a local, were arrested.


Later, a Pakistani SIM card, drugs, two mobile phones and some cash were also recovered from the culprits. According to officials, Jaswindra Singh aka Sonu, a resident of Jaloka in Tarantaran district of Punjab; Kala Singh and Jodha Singh, residents of Bheekhivandi, Punjab; were staying in a room at a dharamshala in Shrikaranpur, Ganganagar. Later, after inquiry, the BSF caught another person, Manga Singh of Bhuttiwala in Ganganagar.

Officers found details of delivery of the consignment and location-related messages on their WhatsApp.
