Drunken brawl leads to murder in Kerala

Kochi: A drunken brawl between two friends at Angamaly ended in homicide as one was stabbed to death by other on Sunday night. According to Angamaly police, the deceased was identified as Joel (22), a resident of Ayathupady in Perumbavoor and a professional badminton player. He succumbed to the stab injuries inflicted by his friend Shaju (55) of Kulamavu in Idukki.

According to police, the incident happened around 9.45pm on Sunday at Champannoor near Angamaly when the duo picked up a verbal fight on the road after drinking liquor together. Though Shaju ended the fight and walked to his house, Joel allegedly followed him there and resumed the fight after throwing verbal abuses. After this, Shaju took a knife from inside his house and stabbed Joel on his left chest and shoulder.

“After the murder , he surrendered before the police,” said a police officer.
