Durgapur bridge set to be repaired, after the elections

KOLKATA: The Kolkata Metropolitan Development Authority (KMDA) is set to replace the expansion joints of the Durgapur bridge , which connects Ultadanga with VIP Road, after the elections .

According to sources, tenders were floated earlier this month to invite an agency for taking up the work. May 17 is the final day to submit the bids that will be opened on Monday, and then an agency will be selected for the work.

The KMDA will ask cops for a day when the traffic will be diverted for the work. There could be massive chaos at Ultadanga junction during the work as a lane of the bridge or a small portion of the stretch may be closed. Officials said the estimated cost of the work, which would have to be completed in 45 days since its commencement, has been pegged at Rs 38,08,744. Apart from replacing the expansion joints, the KMDA will also take up other ancillary work in the bridge.
