EastEnders star Davood Ghadami joins Holby City after Kush Kazemi's dramatic exit

EastEnders actor Davood Ghadami is joining BBC One medical drama Holby City after his character on Albert Square, Kush Kazemi, was axed.

Davood has filmed his final scenes on EastEnders, and Kush's exit will air next week but remains shrouded in mystery.

With many of his fans wondering what his next move will be, Holby City has now announced he will be joining as Eli Ebrahimi, a Consultant Cardiothoracic Surgeon, later this year.

"I am absolutely thrilled to be joining such a brilliant show," said Davood.

"Holby City is renowned for its quality storytelling and I’m excited for the audience to meet Eli and watch the drama that unfolds on his arrival!"

Sean Gleeson, Series Producer of Holby City, added: "We’re delighted that Davood has joined us. We are more than excited to welcome Davood from EastEnders to Holby and know that he is going to be a fantastic addition to our cast."

And a message from Holby’s official social media account read: "Too excited for words!"

Kush Kazemi will be making a dramatic exit from EastEnders

"@DavoodGhadami is joining #HolbyCity as Eli Ebrahimi, Consultant Cardiothoracic Surgeon."

Eli is described as a "talented – if slightly idiosyncratic – surgeon."

He is described as "excitable, passionate and exploding with energy," and someone who "puts work above just about everything".

EastEnders fans have been wondering if Kush will be murdered by the Mitchells after he grassed them up, or he may flee and take fiance Whitney Dean with him.

EastEnders’ Shona McGarty teases exit twist for Whitney as she gets ‘happily ever after’ with Kush

Whitney actress Shona McCarty has teased: "I think it would destroy Whitney, I think it would really, really hurt, like it would.

"Whitney would take it really hard because like I said before she really believes Kush is the one and no one has made her feel the way that he does.

"He was there throughout the Leo stuff and he’s been there right by her side the whole time, it would completely destroy her.

"But who’s to say Whitney and Kush aren’t going to live happily ever after together away from Walford?

"This could very well be her fairytale ending..."

* EastEnders airs Mondays and Fridays at 8pm, and Tuesdays and Thursdays at 7:30pm on BBC One.
