Earlier in the day, Netherlands got to an above par total of 158 runs on a surface which was not too good for batting. Ryan ten Doeschate was the aggressor-in-chief as he along with van der Merwe scored 56 runs in the final 5 overs. Rankin was the pick of the bowlers but the end of the Dutch innings proved pivotal in the context of the match.

As for the Netherlands bowlers, Roelof van der Merwe and Pieter Seelaar were the pick. The skipper led the way as he took 3 wickets and stopped the momentum in the middle overs after a good start.
