Commentary
  • Phew! The game is done and dusted. Mumbai become the third team to qualify for the playoffs and that means, it is a tussle between Hyderabad, Rajasthan, Kolkata and Punjab. Who will come through? Friday sees one eliminator, with Punjab hosting Kolkata in Mohali. The loser will bow out of the tournament. Join us at 8 pm local (1430 GMT) for all the action from game 52. ADIOS! TAKE CARE!
  • JASPRIT BUMRAH HAS BEEN NAMED THE MAN OF THE MATCH. As always, Jassi has a smile on his lips. On bowling in the Super Over, Bumrah says that he just tries to focus one ball at a time and keep it as simple as possible. Admits that there is always pressure in the Super Over but he does not think about that and just focusses on what he needs to do and what the team wants from him. Adds that he and Rohit can talk, he can also talk to other players but the ultimate decision is that of the individual.
  • Victorious Mumbai skipper, Rohit Sharma, says that this victory feels good as they are amongst the top 4 now. Credits this to the hard work put in by the team throughout the tournament. In spite of the tie, Sharma says that he was always clear that he wanted runs on the board but admits that 160 was not such a great total. But also says that if they got early wickets, they could put pressure on the middle order with Warner and Bairstow present. Praises Manish Pandey for playing a fantastic knock but also his own bowlers for bowling well in the middle overs. Is short of words while praising Jasprit Bumrah, taking responsibilities and key roles in his stride and hitting the yorkers to perfection. On Mumbai's batting in the top order, Rohit agrees that the team needs to perform better but stresses that the batting unit understands its role.
  • Krunal Pandya is now in for a chat with Melanie Jones. Pandya is very happy with the result. Is satisfied that he could contribute to the win. On Rohit's decision to bat first, Pandya says that it does not matter whether you bat first or second at the Wankhede but admits that Mumbai were 10-15 runs short and also, the Powerplay with the ball did not go their way. Credits Chahar and Bumrah for bowling well in the middle overs and bringing Mumbai back in the game. On bowling on such wickets, KP says that variation of pace is the key on such tracks.
  • Hyderabad skipper, Kane Williamson, says that his heart was in his mouth when the Super Over came. Credits Manish Pandey for getting the game so close. Praises his bowlers for bowling well in the first half but admits that they gave a bit too many runs in the second half. On Rashid Khan being chosen to bowl the Super Over, Kane admits that 8 was too less to defend but they went with the leg spinner due to his superb credentials. Now, takes a huge sigh of breath and says that a victory would have been great as this is that stage where you need 2 points but now, hopes to win the next game and go through.
  • The Super Over was completely one-sided. Bumrah stifled the opposition, conceding just 8 while Hardik and Pollard did not sweat much to get the required 2 points. With these points, Mumbai are through to the playoffs!
  • Now, the second innings. Hyderabad get off to a flier. Race to 59 in the Powerplay. Then, the game turns as Bumrah and Krunal Pandya run through the middle order. The visitors keep losing wickets before a 6th wicket stand of 49 revives their hopes. And the final over, with 16 to defend, Manish Pandey drags the game into a Super Over with a last-ball six.
  • Let us summarize the match for you again. Mumbai choose to bat. Struggle for a major part of the innings. De Kock carries his team through to 162. Very competitive on a Wankhede track. But with dew????
  • A match which should have been won by Mumbai, has been won by Mumbai but after taking the long route. They should have finished it off while defending but Manish Pandey's brilliance took it to the Super Over. There, Bumrah strut his stuff, giving away just 8 runs and picking up the 2 wickets while it was a cakewalk for Hardik and Pollard with the bat.
  • Ball 3: R Khan to K Pollard, 2 runs. MUMBAI WIN! Easily done. A fraction quicker but shorter as well, Pollard easily works it through mid-wicket and jogs through for a couple. Pumps his fists while looking at Hardik.
  • Ball 2: R Khan to H Pandya, 1 run. Full and around middle, worked calmly through mid-wicket for a single. 2 needed now...
  • Ball 1: R Khan to H Pandya, SIX! There comes the first blow. Tossed up, outside off, Hardik gets underneath it and powers it wide of long off! 3 needed from 5 balls...
  • One batsman is seen walking out to the middle. Hardik Pandya it is. Oh brother. It is his best pal from the Caribbean to follow. Kieron Pollard. This could be over in 2 blows... This is interesting. A spinner against two bashers. Rashid Khan to bowl.
  • The Men In Blue are getting their heads scratched. Who will be their top 3? Rohit, Hardik and Pollard? Do de Kock and Lewis come into the frame? Who will bowl? Bhuvi? Rashid? Nabi?
  • That is a target Mumbai will take any day. Only that they would have wanted to finish it off before the Super Over itself. Bumrah exhibited yet another perfect over at the death and even the six that he conceded was off a top edge. The hosts should be favourites to win this...
  • Ball 4: J Bumrah to M NABI, OUT! BOWLED! Mumbai need 9 to win. Full and straight, Nabi swings hard but the lack of pace on that defeats him. He misses and the stumps are hit. Perfect bowling.
  • Ball 3: J Bumrah to M NABI, SIX!!!! It is a top edge but will Hyderabad care? A short ball, around middle, Nabi looks to pull but is in no control of that shot. He is hurried through by that bouncer and gets a top edge. It sails over mid-wicket! 8/1 in 3 balls!
  • Ball 2: J Bumrah to M Guptill, 1 run. Full toss around middle, powered down the ground to long on for a single.
  • Martin Guptill walks in at number 3, replacing Pandey.
  • Ball 1: J Bumrah to M Pandey, 1 RUN AND A RUN OUT! Mumbai strike on the very first ball. Full and wide outside off, slower in pace, Pandey reaches out and slices it over cover. Krunal Pandya comes charging in from the deep but fumbles. Seeing that, the batsmen go for the second. Krunal's throw is accurate to de Kock who disturbs the stumps with Pandey struggling to reach. It is referred upstairs and replays confirm that Manish is short...
  • There is plenty of discussion in both the camps. Who comes out to bat for Hyderabad? Manish Pandey for sure. Mohammad Nabi walks out along with him. Who will be number 3? Guptill? Shankar? Saha? Meanwhile, Jasprit Bumrah is already ready with the ball...
  • 6 poor overs for Mumbai have actually cost them a direct win. They can still get 2 points but it will be via a Super Over. Sran and Malinga went for 67 in their 6 overs combined but the others bowled well, especially the spinners. Hardik's last over was a surprise. He almost pulled it off but that last ball...
  • A similar innings for Hyderabad as compared to Mumbai. There, it was Quinton de Kock. Here, it was Manish Pandey. Like QdK, Pandey hung around till the end. Only, he got help from Mohammad Nabi towards the end.
  • Unbelievable. We have a Super Over. Who would have thought? 16 to defend, the first 3 go for 8, then the next 2 go for 2 and a six on the final ball! Manish Pandey has given Hyderabad an outside chance to win this one. Why outside chance? Because Bumrah will be bowling the Super Over for sure!

H Pandya to M Pandey, SIX! We have a Super Over! That has gone all the way! What a shot! Manish Pandey you beauty. He steps down the track and Pandya bowls a length ball. Manish pulls it over the mid-wicket fence. THE GAME ENDS IN A TIE!
