Commentary
  • That is it from us for this game. The tournament is wide open after West Indies lost today. However, Ireland will have to win the next game to stay in contention. We will be back on 9th May for Match 3 of the tri-series between Ireland and Bangladesh in Dublin at 1045 local (0945 GMT). For now, goodbye.
  • Mashrafe Mortaza, Bangladesh skipper, says he is very pleased with the way they played. Further adds they did well after losing the practice match. Mentions the bowling was good in death and credits the way their batters batted. Ends by saying the tournament is still open and he is looking forward to doing well.
  • Jason Holder, Windies captain, says they were short in the runs department. Adds they should have bowled better and that did not happen today. Holder also says they will look to improve and come back strong in the next game.
  • Shai Hope, Man of the Match, says he is happy with his effort. Adds they did not get enough on the board. Ends by saying they are disappointed they could not win this game but will try and bounce back in the next game.
  • Earlier in the day, Windies should have scored a lot more than they did. They had crossed the 200-run mark before the 40th over, courtesy Hope's ton and Chase's half ton. However, they lost their way after that and were restricted to 261 which proved to be an easy score to chase down for Bangladesh.
  • The West Indies bowling was very poor! They were wayward with the new ball. Either bowled it down the leg side or outside off which made it easy for the two batters. Even with the old ball they could not bowl with a lot of control. Shannon Gabriel and Roston Chase did take a wicket each but that was probably too late.
  • How easy was that? Bangladesh have done this in a canter! 262 was supposed to be a challenging total on a wicket which did have something for the bowlers but easy work was made of it. Their openers led the way with a 144-run stand. Sarkar was then dismissed but Tamim continued with Shakib. The two added another 50-plus run stand before Tamim got out 20 runs short of a ton. Rahim and Shakib then ensured there were no more wickets to fall and with an unbeaten 68-run stand with the latter scoring a half ton, took their team over the line.

S Cottrell to M Rahim, SIX! WHAT HAPPENED THERE? The fielder has completely lost the ball. Sums up West Indies' fielding effort today. Rahim dances down the track and slaps it towards sweeper cover. The fielder there comes running in but then realizes that the ball is going to go above him. He stretches his hand up but it goes over him for a biggie.
