Bargain Hunt star's daughter caught up in harrowing ordeal with car thieves

Bargain Hunt auctioneer Phillip Serrell has recalled his daughter's terrifying ordeal with car thieves.

Phillip took to social media to reveal his daughter had to deal with the horrifying situation after coming face to face with two criminals attempting to steal her car. Phillip's daughter Clementine was confronted with the ordeal after the two thieves stole her car keys.

Clementine bravely kept her composure, with the Bargain Hunt star even joking about the thieves' reaction to being confronted by his petite daughter. Writing on X, formerly known as Twitter, the BBC auctioneer said: "Last night @clemserrell caught 2 blokes stealing her car after a car key theft. In a way, I hope they don't get caught. Won't do their street cred any good being chased off by a 5'4 blonde."

The Bargain Hunt star was flooded with support from fans who praised Clementine for her bravery. One wrote "They didn't realise how fit you were, girl power!! Glad you're ok," while another added: "Clementine Serrell is constantly inspiring and such a hard-working person. Only deserves the best and not these crooks! Hugs to you, Clem."

A third said: "You go, girl!! Good on you for chasing them but just as long as you were safe!! does Clem take after you or your wife Phil??" Clementine responded to her father's followers' kind comments and jokingly referred to herself as a "Liam Neeson/James Bond hybrid".

Auctioneer Phillip lives in Worcester with his wife and they welcomed their only daughter Clementine in 1988. Meanwhile, Bargain Hunt fans will know Phillip is famous for always wearing a scarf while on the BBC show.

Back in 2021, the auctioneer explained why he's also seen sporting the item he refers to as his "Serrell scarf". On Twitter, he wrote: "Cast your mind back to about November of 1999, I was asked to record the very first Bargain Hunt that they ever recorded.

"I walked into the green room with a scarf on and I was about to take it off when the soundman said, 'What are you doing?'. I said, 'Well, I’m taking my scarf off'. He said, 'no, no, no - don’t do that because I can hide the microphone in there and it makes me look really good'."

Phillip was called back for another episode but this time decided not to wear a scarf. He continued: "The soundman walks up to me and says 'Phil, where’s your scarf?'

"I said, 'it’s in the car.' He said 'Go and get it because I can hide the microphone in there and it makes me look really good'. Well, come August, I’m the only bloke walking around wearing a scarf." As well as working on Bargain Hunt, Phillip also appears on Dickinson’s Real Deal, Antiques Road Trip, Flog It!, and Put Your Money Where Your Mouth Is.
