Chelsea told one key reason stopping Christian Pulisic and Victor Osimhen transfer swap

Chelsea once more failed to capitalise on having more possession and lots of chances as they frustrated in a 2-2 draw with Everton. It was a first half case of deja vu for Graham Potter, who's side held good territory and cut through the Toffees without working Jordan Pickford.

It meant that when they did eventually go ahead through Joao Felix the tendency to see out the game came about once more rather than punishing their passive opponents. Sean Dyche's team responded and bounced back twice to record a key draw in the relegation battle.

Having now scored two goals in their past three games it was also defensive issues that saw Potter's men punished but there was another attacking change to the team as well. Christian Pulisic returned for his first start since January.

The American has come off the bench in the past two games but was favoured here instead of Mykhailo Mudryk or Noni Madueke. The 24-year-old showed some nice glimpses of speed and skill when dancing through the stubborn Everton defence but, much like his teammates, struggles for final third cutting edge.

Given his lack of gametime and seemingly being on his way out of the club come the end of the campaign too, it was a surprise to see him get the nod. The USMNT star is more natural in the twin No10 roles in a 3-4-3 but hasn't had the output he would have wanted this season, a familiar story echoed across the board.

To sort that Chelsea will be one of many sides looking to purchase a striker in the summer and Victor Osimhen is currently as good as you get in that department. The Napoli forward has been immense in their Serie A surge and has a chance to push on in the Champions League too.

He is one of the most in-demand players in Europe and won't come cheap but Chelsea have already experimented with finding new ways of reducing the price when it comes to that matter. Last year they were readily open to offering out players in swap deals, although it didn't come off it was proof of Todd Boehly's eagerness to be innovative in the market.

Now, CalcioMercatoWeb report that they are looking to do the same with a move for the Nigerian attacker. It is said that Pulisic, who's future appears to be away from SW6, has been offered to Luciano Spalletti and his Naples outfit in order to get a lower price point for Osimhen.

Pulisic himself was offered to fellow Italian clubs Juventus and AC Milan last year as well as gathering interest from Newcastle and Manchester United. With a summer clear-out on the cards a move to Napoli may well be possible, though one key condition has so far made it unlikely.
