Hannah Waddingham breaks silence after photographer's sexist comment at Olivier Awards

Hannah Waddingham is ready to "move on" from a sexist comment from a photographer at the Olivier Awards.

At the ceremony earlier in the week, as Hannah, 49, was preparing to enter the venue, one photographer called out for the actress and singer to "show some leg". After hearing the comment, her face dropped and she didn't hesitate to call out the sexist comment.

"Oh my God," she fumed, adding: "You would never say that to a man. Don't be a d**k, otherwise I'll move on. Don't say 'show me leg', no." Hannah instantly made the decision to move on away from the paparazzi pen but footage showed her looking less than impressed as she had a tense chat with an individual.

Tonight, on The One Show, Hannah was asked about what happened and she revealed she had received a written apology.

Host Alex Jones asked her: "But many people had already applauded you on the red carpet after your comment to the paparazzi, how are you Hannah, at the other end of that?" and Hannah insisted she was good.

"I’m good, I called out what needed to be…absolutely necessary to call out. And I’ve received a written apology and so now I’m so ready to move on. And I’m not having it overshadow what was the most ... I think even more than last year, it was the most glorious, joyful, positive night. I don’t usually say this, but I was really flipping proud of that night," she said. "It did exactly what we wanted it to. The whole place erupted like a bunch of lunatics. So that’s what the takeaway should be."

The video of Hannah hitting out at the photographer went viral, with fans impressed by her comment. One wrote: "I'm glad she called him out! And I'm glad her friend Michael Ball was there to give her a hug; I'm sure she needed it in that moment," whilst a second added: "I could not love her more! I absolutely LOVE that she stands her ground and will not let people treat her like c**p."

"Hannah being an absolute icon for calling this kind of behaviour out," a third wrote on Twitter, whilst a fourth took to social media to write: "What a queen - just when I thought I couldn't love her more!"
