Liverpool 'target' admits transfer 'dream' after agent's comments about Jürgen Klopp interest

In an interesting revelation, Feyenoord center-back Dávid Hancko, has openly declared his allegiance to Liverpool, amid swirling transfer rumors linking him to the club. This comes in light of his agent's statements in January suggesting interest from the Reds.

"As an agency, we are in contact not only with these two clubs, but also with others who are looking into Dávid's situation," Hancko's agent, Branislav Jašurek, told

TNCZ during the January transfer window. "I estimate that 80-90 per cent David will stay in Rotterdam [this month] because Feyenoord is fighting for the Champions League and the people at Feyenoord know that Dávid Hancko will be sold even in the summer and maybe better than now."

The 26-year-old Slovakian, who is tied down with the Eredivisie team until June 2028, has been a standout performer for the Dutch outfit. Since his $6.5m (£5.1m/€6.0m) transfer from Sparta Prague in August 2022, Hancko has been instrumental in Feyenoord's Eredivisie championship run, contributing significantly across 45 appearances in all competitions last season.

In a heartfelt interview, Hancko reminisced about the pivotal moment that cemented his love for Liverpool: the club's historic comeback in the 2005 Champions League final against AC Milan. The dramatic match saw Liverpool overturn a 3-0 half-time deficit to draw 3-3 and ultimately clinch the European Cup via a penalty shootout.

"It all started with the Istanbul Champions League final in 2005, which my parents allowed me to watch until the end, and I didn’t have to go to bed even when extra time was going on. And then came Martin Škrtel," Hancko shared with Aktuality.

"I have been a Liverpool fan ever since. I follow the English Premier League the most, so that is my dream. My role model has always been David Beckham, but I feel most for Liverpool. So far nothing is happening. Because of my new contract it won’t be easy. If there is a possibility and it is good for us, why not?"

Liverpool.com says: Hancko would clearly be open to a move if Liverpool decides to make a transfer bid but we are some way off that being the case. If nothing else, even if Jürgen Klopp was showing an interest in January, he won't be the one drawing up summer plans.

While Hancko is nonetheless probably being looked at and considered, it remains to be seen whether or not Liverpool firms up any interest. A center-back should be a summer priority but there are other players to come into the equation as well.
