Man labelled 'tragic' for leaving Tinder date at cinema – but he hits back

A man left a Tinder date alone in a cinema during their first meet-up, but he says there was a good reason why.

Dating can be complex and strange. It's often challenging enough to find a match, let alone achieve a flaw-free first date. One bloke recently shared his disastrous first date after matching with a woman on Tinder.

Bravely opening up about his major "dating fail" on Reddit, the man admitted he was taken aback by the disastrous encounter. The date went so poorly that all he could do was make a light-hearted joke of it in the end.

The unnamed Romeo posted a screenshot of a text message chat with a friend. He tantalisingly asked if they wanted to hear how the date went, with his friend nervously replying: "I'm afraid to ask."

He began by revealing that things started off well. They "chatted a bit", laughed and made their way to the cinema, but then the date took a surprising twist.

He said once the film kicked off, she suddenly became engrossed in her phone, talking to someone else while the movie was still running.

His text explained: "After a few times of trying to talk she looks up for a second, and then goes right back to her phone. So I left, sat outside, waited for the movie to end and then she came out and looked at me and said no and left."

Unsurprisingly, his friend responded with shock, saying: "You left her in there by herself." To this, the bloke quipped: "She wasn't alone - she had her phone. I guess she doesn't like Star Wars."

The surprising tale has left people chuckling, with many finding the woman's behaviour on the date unbelievable.

Some argued that the choice of film could have been a turn-off, but others suggested that the cinema may not be the ideal first-date location.

One social media user pointed out: "Man, some people have absolutely zero game. Tragic is what it is." Another advised: "Never ever take a first date to the movies."

On the other hand, a third identified a potential problem with selecting Star Wars as their first date movie, observing: "Ok, taking your first date to Star Wards. Although epic movies, that is ... umm ... not the smartest move with a girl you don't know that well.

"To put it mildly. Letting her pick the movie would have been the safer option. But yeah sometimes its just not meant to be. And that is totally fine."

However, the chap defended his film choice, saying: "We chatted for a while before going out, she said she was into star wars, even had a rebel alliance tattoo.

"She just wasn't into me at first.. plot twist: she wont stop texting me now lol."
