Meghan Markle slammed for her 'strategic friendship' with ex-best pal Jessica Mulroney

A royal commentator has taken aim at the way Meghan Markle played her friendship with Jessica Mulroney.

The pair's bond was labelled a "strategic friendship" by royal expert Charlotte Griffiths, who criticised the former Suits star's apparent ability to hold onto a friendship.

Griffiths spoke of how the Duchess is famous for "unfriending her friends" after Jessica and Meghan's apparent distancing in recent years.

She went on to reference the Urban Dictionary slang term of "Markled" which is described as someone who distances themselves from a friendship after they've "contributed to your life in a meaningful way".

Speaking on Palace Confidential, Griffiths said: "[She's unfriended] family members, Suits co-stars, her best friend Jessica Mulroney whose children were page boys at the royal wedding."

It came after the pair's apparent falling out in 2020. According to a Page Six source, the Duchess thought Mulroney was trying to "make a career out of the friendship".

Griffiths continued: "For somebody who is actually famous for unfriending her friends or casting aside her friends, it's amazing that she cited the word friendship in the blurb for this documentary that's sort of been leaked out. I think she's a bit strategic with her friends and once she's finished with them, she casts them aside and forgets all about them, deletes their number and blocks their number in some cases."

Meghan is currently filming for her latest Netflix offering, which focuses on cooking and gardening. While fans were hoping to get a sneak peek inside the lavish Montecito mansion Meghan and Harry share with their two kids, it's said the streaming giants have instead hired a home nearby.

A source told Daily Mail: "Netflix has rented a house in Montecito for filming." The publication also claimed filming began on April 16.

It coincides with Harry's own Netflix series, focusing on the sport of polo. Cameras were on the pair during his recent outing at a fundraising event. The couple were joined by a film crew at the fundraising polo match in Wellington, Florida, which saw Harry's Royal Salute Sentebale team win both games in front of around 300 spectators. Following the mini-tournament win, he received a kiss on the cheek from wife Meghan, who had been cheering on her man.
