NFL legend Shannon Sharpe has home broken into with $1m worth of goods stolen

NFL legend Shannon Sharpe was a victim of a burglary as thieves snatched around $1million in valuables.

Sharpe is considered one of the best tight ends in NFL history after winning three Super Bowl championships with the Denver Broncos and Baltimore Ravens. Since retiring, he has remained in the sporting eye as an analyst,

co-hosting Undisputed on Fox Sports 1 alongside Skip Bayless.

According to TMZ Sports, the break-in in Sharpe’s Los Angeles home went down between 7pm and 9:30pm [Western time] on May 19. The 54-year-old had left his house for a few hours early in the evening before returning from dinner with friends when he noticed something was wrong.

Sharpe contacted the police, telling the cops that he was missing expensive watches, designer bags and jewellery. Authorities revealed there were no obvious signs of forced entry, although an investigation into the robbery is ongoing.

While no arrests have yet been made, Sharpe clearly wants to see some level of punishment. The former tight end posted a $50,000 reward for any information leading to an arrest and a conviction.

The robbery is the latest example of a thief targeting a sporting icon and his home after Michael Jordan’s Chicago home was broken into last month.

Jordan’s home - which is valued at an eye-watering $15m - was quickly visited by police who found the teenage trespasser still inside.

The perpetrator was named as Raiden Hagedorn as he was charged with criminal trespass to an occupied residence and two counts of criminal damage to property, which are all misdemeanours.

Like in Sharpe’s case, Jordan was not inside the 56,000-square-foot home when the incident went down. He has reportedly not lived at the address since he placed it on the market back in 2012 with the six-time NBA champion initially putting it up for sale for $29m.
