'We fell in love at first sight – we found out we were pregnant a week later'

Many people dream of finding 'the one', but it often happens when you least expect it.

And that's exactly what happened to Maggie Corbould, 23, when she'd "given up on love", but decided to give love one last shot by downloading the popular dating app Hinge. As a result of the app, she met Danny Corbould, 23, after the

pair met on a whim in February 2022 - and it was "love at first sight".

But in March 2022, they were "shocked" to learn that they were pregnant, realising they must have conceived the baby just a week after meeting for the first time - but they were thrilled, and are happily married two years later.

Maggie and Danny, who was in the military at the time, decided to keep the baby and moved in together immediately, and then they tied the knot in an intimate ceremony in June 2022, so they could get a military home. Their son, who they named Edward, was born in December 2022, and the pair couldn't be more "besotted". Maggie, from Windsor, Berkshire, even said she believes a "higher power" brought them together, saying she thinks "it was love at first sight".

She said: "Finding out I was pregnant after only a week was a shock. I think people expect us to have broken up. When I look back I wouldn't do it differently at all. That little boy is my whole world."

Danny agreed that he knew he loved her when they first met, admitting that normally he's a "very unsure person", but he "wanted to be with her every day". He said: "I just had a feeling that I'd never felt with previous girlfriends. I was scared at first because everything was happening so quickly but there was no doubt in my mind that I wanted this baby with her.

"As soon as I saw that first scan all my worries went away. I love our little love story. I wouldn't have changed anything. I love our little family and can't wait for the rest of our future as the Corbould family."

Maggie wasn't sure she'd ever find the one after ending a six-year relationship in 2021, sharing that she had no likes left when she saw Danny's profile on Hinge, so she paid to message him. On their date, they "talked for hours in the car", saying that they "fell for each other".

Maggie and Danny spent the next few days together as often as they could and even got matching tattoos on their ankles, getting an inking of a crown each a week later.

Speaking about finding out she was pregnant, Maggie said Danny thought she "was joking", saying "it was a complete shock" as she was "on contraception". But they said it felt right", so they continued with the pregnancy.

When she found out, she said she had to call her dad. She said: "I had to ring my dad as he was on location in Malta and tell him 'I'm pregnant with a man you've never met and we're getting married'. He said 'We'll love it, but we won't financially support it'." But now, Maggie said that her dad is "besotted" with him.

Danny moved in immediately into Maggie's 65-year-old dad's two-bed flat, but with a family on the way they knew they'd need somewhere bigger, so they got married four months later to get a military house. Maggie said the whole experience was "a ride" and "a rollercoaster", saying that they were "learning so many things about each other".

Maggie said the pregnancy itself was "easy" and she was induced at 37 weeks so Danny could meet Edward before he was deployed. She was in labour for "about two hours", saying she "only pushed three to four times", saying Edward "wanted to come out into this world". He was born at 10.46am on Boxing Day, weighing 7lbs 1oz.

She said she remembers hearing "weird noises", but "it was Danny just sobbing and holding him". She described Edward as a "gorgeous little boy".

"I remember him being passed to me and thinking he was such a gorgeous little boy." Now 15 months old, Edward is a happy little tot and the family is looking forward to spending more time together now Danny has stepped down from the army, and starting their journey properly.
