Days of Our Lives spoilers for July 9

Days of Our Lives spoilers:
, which premiered nearly 60 years ago, remains one of the most popular soap operas on TV despite facing competition from newer titles. It features several twists and turns as well as compelling character arcs, which have endeared it to the audience. It also has layered and relatable characters that have connected with viewers because of their vulnerabilities. The July 9 episode of

promises to be just as compelling as the ones before it. The new chapter also brings with it intriguing developments for Gwen, Xander and Sarah. 

Gwen tries to attract Xander’s attention

 Gwen– who returned to Salem on the July 8 episode–  is back to her old ways. She shows off her wealth. She also tries to reconnect with Xander, who is single and vulnerable as he recently parted ways with wife Sarah. Gwen and Xander were previously engaged on

but split. Given their past, Gwen’s attempts at winning him back could lead to an intense and ugly situation. 

Is something wrong with Marlena?

Meanwhile, Marlena hasn’t been the same ever since John’s death. She is trying to adjust to life without the love of her life, but this is easier said than done. She says everything is fine, but her actions and body language paint a different picture. Belle is worried about her, especially when she sees her lose her balance. Sarah feels that there is nothing to worry about as she did not find anything wrong with her during a checkup. This, however, isn’t enough to allay Belle's fears. She asks Marlena if there is something more to her situation than meets the eye. She, however, refuses to humour her.

Additionally, Doug III is in a difficult spot. He owes some dangerous people many and they are now after him. This spells trouble for Ari, his partner/lover. Doug decides to distance himself from her to protect her but does not tell her the full details. Ari, not surprisingly, refuses to comply with these wishes. 

Bonnie gives a strong message to Sarah

Elsewhere, Bonnie visits Salem and gives Sarah a piece of her mind. She tells her to reaccess her situation in life and figure out what she wants in life. She also tells her to take stock of her personal life and decide who she wants to be with. This conversation may help her make the right choice at a point when she is confused and vulnerable because of her strained equation with Xander. 

The July 9 episode of
also sees Javi learn a secret about Leo. Leo tells her that his real name is Matthew and he had a fling with Dmitri when Dmitri was with Gwen. Javi soon realises that Leo’s past his full of mistakes and secrets. This makes her wonder whether she can trust him. This comes at a time when they are trying to look after a baby.
