Aoashi Manga Ends After 10 Years, Creator Yugo Kobayashi Announces New Series For 2026
Manga creator Yugo Kobayashi has officially wrapped up Aoashi after a decade long run, with the final chapter published in the 30th issue of Weekly Big Comic Spirits, released on June 23.
The same issue also announced that Kobayashi will return with a brand new manga, set to launch in spring 2026 in the same magazine.
Aoashi manga was launched in Shogakukan’s seinen manga magazine Weekly Big Comic Spirits on January 2015. The first volume was published on April 30, 2015. As of April 30, 2025, 39 volumes have been published.
Over the years, Ao Ashi partnered with several real-world soccer-related projects, including collaborations with the J.League and television programs. The manga went on to surpass 23 million copies in circulation.
The series is licensed in Southeast Asia by Shogakukan Asia. On May 26, 2025, Titan Comics announced that they had acquired the English-language rights to Aoashi
An anime television series adaptation produced by Production I.G aired from April to September 2022. A second season produced by TMS Entertainment is set to premiere in 2026.
