MG Motor India introduces 6-seat Hector Plus

Having completed its first-year operations and commercial launch in India, MG Motor India, introduced the updated six-seater version of its Hector SUV, christened – MG Hector Plus.

The Hector Plus, gets a revised seating layout compared to the earlier variant, which went on to give a good start to the brand MG in India, having sold over 21,000 units in  since its launch in June last year to March 2020.

The company had a speedy run to roll out the first 10,000 Hectors within four months of launch. The updated model now gets refreshed exterior with a revised front-end having a new grille flanked by a pair of LED headlamps. The front and rear bumpers are new as well and these are the only changes that the Hector Plus boasts on the outside compared to the regular Hector.

The main change lies inside – where the second-row bench seat is replaced with two individual captain seats. There is also a third-row of seating offered in place, taking the Hector Plus’ total seating capacity to six. The interior also gets a new brown seat upholstery.

While the SUV continues to get a vertically-oriented 10.4-inch touchscreen infotainment system as the regular Hector which continues to have over 55 connectivity features, the six-seat Hector gets ‘smart swipe’ handsfree tailgate opening functionality as well.

The monocoque SUV, which is essentially SAIC’s Baojun 530 under its skin comes powered by the same 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol rated for 143bhp and 250Nm and a Fiat-sourced 2.0-litre diesel that makes 170bhp and 350Nm of torque, both available in their BS VI -compliant avatar. The petrol engine also comes in a 48V hybrid form.

While the petrol comes equipped with either a 6-speed manual or an automatic dual clutch transmission, the diesel is only offered with a 6-speed manual gearbox. The petrol hybrid, on the other hand, comes mated only with a manual transmission.

The Hector Plus is equipped with six airbags, ABS, EBD and features such as hill-hold assist.
MG Motor India has launched the Hector Plus at introductory prices starting from Rs 13.49 lakh for the base petrol manual and going all the way up to Rs 18.54 lakh for the top-end diesel. The company says these prices are introductory and will see an upward revision to the tune of Rs 50,000 after August 13.
