2020 Hyundai Verna Official Images Revealed; Launch in 2020

  • 2020 Hyundai Verna will feature new headlamps, grille, front bumper.

  • New tail lamps, rear bumper, the new wheel design.

  • The bolder but less cohesive design.

  • Launches in China on Oct 30.

The 2020 Hyundai Verna was displayed at the Chengdu Motor Show in Shanghai, and now the company has released official images of the car ahead of its Chinese launch on 30 October.

The first thing one notices is the bold new styling, which Hyundai has been moving toward. There’s a bold new large grille, and large headlamps flanking it. The bumper has a lot of elements in it as well, and the entire bottom of the car seems to have been lowered as it would appear with additional skirting.

At the side, there are new dual-tone alloy wheels, and at the rear, the bumper is just as detailed as the front. The tail lamps run well into the boot lid, and a red bar runs right across, meeting at the logo, quite like the MG Hector.

The interior of the new Hyundai Verna is also updated, with a more upmarket feel. There is a large 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a fully digital instrument cluster, and wireless phone charging and Bluelink that debuted on the Venue will also be present.

Powering it will be 1.4-liter petrol, making the base variants affordable. However, it will share powertrains with the new Creta and the current Kia Seltos – namely the 1.5-liter petrol and diesel engines. Just like them, it will offer a six-speed manual gearbox and an automatic gearbox for both – a CVT for the petrol and a torque converter for the diesel. The 1.4-liter turbo petrol might also be put on sale as a performance variant, with its dual-clutch automatic gearbox.

The upcoming Hyundai Verna will compete with the Honda City, Maruti Suzuki Ciaz, Skoda Rapid, and Volkswagen Vento in the sedan space, although there will be a number of SUVs like the Hyundai Creta, Ford EcoSport, Kia Seltos, Mahindra XUV300, and Honda WR-V to choose from.
