Hyundai India is readying the second-gen Xcent sedan which is scheduled to be unveiled in 2020 in the country. Being based on the three-box design of the recently launched Grand i10 Nios, it was spotted as a test mule on Indian roads ahead of its launch.

Though, the South-Korean automaker hasn't announced the name of the Xcent successor yet. Going by the spy-shots, the sedan would flaunt a front fascia identical to the Grand i10 Nios. However, the cascading honeycomb front grille will distinguish the 2020 Xcent from the Nios.

The side profile, particularly the greenhouse, will also resemble the Grand i10 Nios while it will ride on new machine-finished alloy wheels. The rear end will boast of an all new bootlid while the number plate will be placed over the rear bumper. The C-shaped LED tail-lamp cluster will be edgier than before.

Inside the cabin, spy pictures have revealed that there will be a black dashboard and steering wheel. In addition, the turbine like air vents will be borrowed from the Grand i10 Nios. The upholstery will be finished in plush leather while rear seats will also get adjustable head restraints.

Mechanically, it will be offered with BS 6 certified 1.2L Kappa petrol and 1.2L U2 CRDi diesel engines. The transmission options will include a 5-speed manual transmission and a 5-speed AMT gearbox. The 2020 Hyundai Xcent is expected to be pricier than the ongoing model due to being more premium and carrying BS 6 engines.

2020 Hyundai Xcent will take on the likes of Maruti Suzuki Dzire, Honda Amaze, Tata Tigor, Ford Aspire, and Volkswagen Ameo.
