All-Electric Harley Davidson LiveWire Production Stopped

Harley Davidson has temporarily stalled the production of its all-electric LiveWire motorcycle due to an issue in the final quality check. It is the American brand's first electric motorcycle and it was also showcased in India a few months back.

Harley Davidson LiveWire started reaching dealerships last month but the company figured out a “non-standard condition” before it could go on sale.

It is being learned that the problem is related to the battery changing setup. Hence, the company was left with no choice but to stop the production and deliveries for the time being. However, there is no official word from Harley Davidson on the resume of production.

The LiveWire comes with a  4.3-inch color TFT touchscreen unit with seven riding modes. Out of the seven modes, four are pre-programmed modes – Road, Rain, Sport, and Range - while the other three can be fully customized by the rider as per need.

The LiveWire safety features include Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), traction control system, and rear-wheel lift mitigation. In addition, there is a drag-torque slip control system which stops the rear wheel slip and lock in cases of regenerative braking.

Being powered by a 15.5 kWh battery which is paired to a permanent magnet electric motor, it has a top power of 103.5bhp and peak torque of 116Nm. The motor is linked to an automatic gearbox while it does a 0-100kmph sprint in just 3 seconds with top speed of 185kmph. The driving range upon full charge is 225kms for city and 142kms for the highways.
