Going by the spy-shots, the Maruti XL5 will have LED taillamps and high mounted stop lamps. Although, it is not very different from the regular hatch as the pattern of tail-lamps is still vertical. The major styling updates are expected to be at the front fascia with a tweaked grille, headlamps, and bumper. The projector headlamps will get LED daytime running lights (DRLs). In addition, the ground clearance could be higher at around 180mm. The cabin could feature an all-black theme, similar to the XL6, alongside an array of new features being offered. Maruti had recently launched a more premium and 6-seater version of Ertiga MPV and it has received a decent response with 2356 units sold in the first month itself.

Mechanically, the XL5 will be offered with only a petrol engine with BS 6 emission levels. The 1.2L K-Series engine will be at the helm of affairs while the mild-hybrid SHVS technology could be on offer as well. The engine will be mated to a 5-speed manual transmission and a 5-speed AMT gearbox. Meanwhile, in other news, Maruti is bracing up for its next big launch on September 30, 2019, when the all-new Maruti S-Presso - the Alto successor - be launched in the Indian market.
