Next-Generation Ford EcoSport To Be Bigger and Bolder

  • Ford plans to introduce a bigger version of the Ford Figo and Ford EcoSport as its next-gen variants in India.

  • A brand-new sedan could also be in the offing.

  • One can expect the launch to be in 2021.

Reports show that Ford is working on its next-gen EcoSport variant in Brazil.

The manufacturing of the next-gen Ford EcoSport will be along with the Ford Figo or Ka, as it is known in Camacari, Bahia. The structural platform for both vehicles is the same. The next-gen Ka has a codename, B680, whereas its sedan version is known as B680S.

The company has commenced on its projects early last year and plans to launch in Brazil by 2021. Despite being on a similar platform, the Ford EcoSport, Ka, and Ka+ will be different because of their distinct proportions and materials used to manufacture them. The Ka is expected to be bigger, and so will be the sedan derivative.

The larger Ford Ka sedan will be the ideal replacement for the Ford Fiesta. The existing Ford Figo will remain as its entry-level vehicle until the demand for it ceases. One can expect the next-gen Ford EcoSport to be introduced in Brazil in two years.

The next-gen Ford EcoSport has two codenames, BX563 and BX755. The larger SUV will suit the Brazil market the best, as it will compete with Honda HR-V and Jeep Compass.

The designers are working towards retailing the BX755 in other international markets, as well. Maybe, India could be the next target. Ford is also planning to introduce the new Ford Escape and Ford Bronco Adventurer in Brazil.

In the Indian market, Ford partners with Mahindra for its future prospects. One can have a launch of a C-segment SUV by the end of 2020 or early 2021. The next-gen Ford EcoSport could draw inspiration from the globally sold Puma SUV.
