The story of Thimayya & Thimayya revolves around a family with roots in Kodagu. The movie begins with Thimayya alias Vincy (Diganth), a failed businessman and Andy alias Anand (Vineeth Kumar), a realtor, having a drink (or more) on top of an under-construction building till late night. Vincy tells Andy that he is in love with Sowmya (Shubra Aiyappa) and that they are planning to go to Lisbon. Vincy and Sowmya then get engaged in the presence of her parents.
Vincy wants to sell his ancestral house and café in Bengaluru and wants to start a seafood business in Lisbon. His uncle agrees to allow him to sell the property on one condition -- that Vincy has to take care of his father Thimayya (Anant Nag), an octogenarian. Vincy reluctantly agrees to look after his grandfather. At this juncture, the director introduces Jyothsna alias Jodi (Aindrita Ray), a woman who is struggling to come out of her own problems. Jodi and senior Thimayya become friends. They want Vincy to reopen the café. How do the lives of Sowmya, Vincy, and Jyothsna pan out is what the film is about.
Veteran actor Anant Nag has done a good job, but the film fails to entertain. Nag appears on the screen 35 minutes after the movie starts. His dialogue delivery and body language, as usual, are superb. Diganth has also tried his best but somehow it doesn’t add up. Aindrita Ray has also acted well and Shubra Aiyappa looks good.
The song – Oh My Sundara What is Anthara – is foot-tapping. Diganth and Shubra have proved their dancing ability in this song. Prakash Thuminad provides comic relief with his funny dialogues.
Music director Anoop Seelin deserves much appreciation. Though dialogues by Raghu Naduvalli, Sanjay Sharma and HR Tejovrusha are good, the movie would have been better had the director made it more engaging.
It is worth a watch, if you are a hard core fan of Anant Nag and Diganth.
