Seeing Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) third successive victory in the IPL 2020 against DC is quite convincing and rely on old players like KL Rahul and Mayank Agarwal was little upsetting as they both departed early. Score of Glenn Maxwell was also not enough to burry all questions over his place in the team.

Maxwell batted in 9 out of the 10 matches in this season and 32-run knock against Delhi was his highest yet.

His score in all these matches was 90 runs at an average of 15 and a strike-rate of 103.44.

Fans and experts have been asking the franchise for another player in the team but the management has continued to show faith in him.

Speaking to media in post match ceremony Rahul say, “Glenn is a great team man. He has been batting well in the nets. It was important to back him. It was good to see him get time in the middle. Hopefully, he carries this good work into the coming games,” he said.

Maxwell is bought at the whopping cost of INR 10.75 crore but his performances remained below-par in this season, the veteran all-rounder has occasionally bagged any wickets, helping his team with the secondary attribute of his.

Rahul, however, remains confident of Maxwell’s ability, especially with what he has seen him doing in the nets. “Glenn has been batting well in the nets. He is a great team man and we know the balance he brings to the table,” he said.

A couple of more victories might as well see the Kings XI enter the top four for the first time this season in the IPL points table from 5th in the IPL table.
