With great effort the Aussies put up a score of 223 with Steve Smith scoring 85 off 119 balls, Alex Carey secured a 46 off 70 balls and Mitchell Starc managed 29 off 36 balls. The bowling department too failed to hold back the Englishman as Pat Cummins and Mitchell Starc managed a wicket each.
On the other hand, England saved their best performance of last as they reached their target in merely 32 overs. Jason Roy smashed a splendid 85 off 65 balls, Joe Root scored 49 off 46 balls and Eoin Morgan secured a 45 off 39 balls. It was the magic of the bowling side that fetched them a clean win without wasting any time. Chris Woakes was named the ‘Man of the Match’ for his 3 wickets while giving away only 20 runs in his 8 overs. Adil Rashid too grabbed 3 wickets and Jofra Archer dismissed 2.
