They took India by storm and without leaving a trace David Warner and Aaron Finch single handedly defeated the host as they finish with 258 in 37.4 overs. Australia wins the day with 10 wickets and 74 balls remaining.
A disappointing day for the Indian team as their Jasprit Bumrah led bowling attack failed to break the partnership of Australian openers. David Warner’s 128 off 112 balls and skipper Aaron Finch’s 110 off 114 balls was enough to conquer India.
David Warner was named the ‘Man of the Match’ for his remarkable performance.
After being put to bat first India scored 255 where Shikhar Dhawan was the highest run-scorer of the side with 74 runs. KL Rahul scored 47 while Rishabh Pant being the third highest scorer managed 28. India’s hit-man Rohit Sharma (10) failed to hold his position as he fell prey to Mitchell Starc’s ball and was caught out by David Warner. The bowling department too failed with their attack as no wicket was taken.
India and Australia will meet for their second ODI match at Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium, Rajkot on 17 January at 1:30PM (local time).
