Shubman Gill who was riding a purple patch lately and gave the glimpses of the same in the fourth Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad seemed to have hit a brick wall in the form of Mitchell Starc.

Starc dismissed Gill at the Wankhede in Mumbai in the first

ODI when the right-handed batter was sent packing at 20 off 33 balls. Gill was caught at backward point and in the second ODI at Vizag the same happened yet again.

India who were invited to bat first after Steve Smith won the toss, needed an excellent begininng but Gill again fell to Starc and got caught at point in what came across as the action replay of first ODI. Gill was infuriated after getting out and screamed in anger.

India suffer massive batting collapse

On a wicket that looked pretty decent to bat on, India suffered a major collapse after they were asked to post a total on the board. India's innings never got going and none of the batters could apply themselves. India got bundled out for 117 in just 26 overs.

Mitchell Starc was breathing fire down the neck of the Indian batters and hence they collapsed like nine pins under constant pressure. Starc started off with Shubman Gill's wicket and went on to dismiss the likes of Rohit Sharma, Suryakumar Yadav, KL Rahul and Mohammed Siraj.

Starc dismissed Siraj in his tenth over to claim his ninth five-wicket haul in ODI history and second five-wicket haul overall against India in his ODI career. He finished with 5/53 in his eight overs and reigned supreme.

Australia will look to scale the moderate total and level the series 1-1 once the two Australian openers - Mitchell Marsh and Travis Head come out to bat.
